Explains how to enter a pump, town main or constant-pressure water supply curve into FHC using eight flow and pressure data points.

This technical data sheet explains how to enter a water supply curve into Canute's FHC hydraulic calculation software, whether that's a pump, a city or town main, or a fixed-pressure source such as a pressurised cylinder.

It covers:

  • The two curve shapes FHC can calculate with: a stable H(Q) pump curve (head declining continuously with flow) or a constant source pressure — and how to test whether a curve qualifies, including checking it plots as a near-straight line on 1.85-power graph paper
  • Entering the eight required flow/pressure data points via project data > water supply, starting from standing pressure at zero flow
  • Amending a saved water supply curve, and removing it from a calculation by selecting 'NONE'
  • Modelling a constant-pressure source, such as a pressure-reducing valve, using the same method with flat pressure points
  • Best practice: calculating the source pressure and flow without a water supply first, to confirm the selected curve is adequate before adding it
